Johana Cañas

Legal Assistant

Johana Cañas, B.A. is the firm’s legal assistant. In addition to drafting key correspondence, she meticulously monitors the flow of legal and medicolegal documents on the firm’s criminal defense and personal injury cases to ensure that our clients can expect forward progress and accuracy.

Before joining the firm, Johana gained significant experience in childcare and school programming, creating lesson plans and leading activities and interactions which emphasized prosocial behaviors and emotional growth.

She proudly obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from the University of Colorado in Denver. While at CU, she was invited to become a member of the distinguished National Society of Leadership and Success.

Through her academic studies, Johana found a passion for the law, which inspired her decision to join the Smith & Weidinger team. She is currently taking steps toward passing the LSAT and admittance to law school.
