Colorado Traffic Accidents
Car accidents are an unfortunate reality for many Colorado residents, with the state recording over 100,000 crashes each year. Cities like Denver, Aurora, and Colorado Springs consistently report high accident volumes due to dense traffic, complex intersections, and rapid population growth. In just one recent year, more than 3,800 people suffered serious injuries, and over 600 lives were lost in crashes across Colorado.
The impact of a car accident often extends far beyond the initial collision. Injured victims may be left coping with painful physical injuries, growing medical expenses, reduced income due to missed work, vehicle repair costs, and lasting emotional trauma. Without the right legal support, navigating this aftermath can feel overwhelming.
Negligent driving continues to be the leading cause of car crashes in Colorado. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that more than 93% of all accidents are caused by human error. In Colorado, the most common types of negligence include distracted driving (especially texting or phone use), drunk or drug-impaired driving, speeding, and fatigue-related incidents.
Colorado’s unique topography and weather conditions also pose seasonal challenges. Snow and ice create dangerous conditions on mountain roads and busy interstates like I-25 and I-70. Winter weather often increases the likelihood of multi-car pileups, rollover crashes, and highway closures. The growing number of incidents involving stolen vehicles and police pursuits has only added to the risks drivers face.
