Colorado Motorcycle Accidents
In 2022, more than 6,000 motorcyclists tragically lost their lives in traffic collisions across the United States, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In Colorado alone, over 140 motorcyclists were killed, with many more suffering serious injuries that lead to long-term physical challenges. These accidents often result in devastating consequences, such as broken bones, spinal cord injuries, brain trauma, and permanent mobility issues.
One of the primary factors behind motorcycle accidents is driver negligence, especially when drivers fail to check their blind spots or yield the right of way before making lane changes or turns. Distracted driving is another significant contributor, whether it involves texting, using a phone, or simply not paying full attention to the road. For motorcyclists, even the smallest error by another driver can lead to catastrophic outcomes.
Distracted driving causes over 400,000 accidents annually across the U.S., and Colorado is no exception. Interestingly, the majority of motorcycle crashes in the state occur in clear weather, highlighting that the danger of an accident persists even under ideal conditions for riding.
