Colorado Pedestrian Accidents

Pedestrians and scooter riders are among the most vulnerable individuals on the road, and unfortunately, accidents involving both continue to rise in Colorado and across the United States. In 2022, Colorado reported an alarming 300 pedestrian fatalities, marking a significant increase in such accidents compared to previous years. The state has witnessed a 50% rise in pedestrian crashes over the last five years, mirroring the national increase in pedestrian accidents. In 2018, Colorado recorded 239 fatal pedestrian accidents, highlighting the upward trend in these devastating incidents.

Additionally, the rise of electric scooters in urban areas has introduced a new set of risks. Scooter crashes are becoming more common as people increasingly turn to these alternative transportation methods. Like pedestrians, scooter riders are exposed to significant dangers, especially when involved in collisions with motor vehicles. Injuries from scooter crashes can range from head trauma and broken bones to spinal cord injuries, all of which require extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation.

The aftermath of both pedestrian and scooter accidents can be overwhelming on many levels. Victims often suffer life-changing injuries that require ongoing care, and the emotional toll can be just as severe. On top of this, the financial burden can be crushing, with mounting medical bills, lost wages, and the costs associated with vehicle repair or replacement.
