Colorado Traffic Accidents
Every day, drivers across Colorado face dangers that can quickly turn a routine commute into a life-changing event. With over 120,000 motor vehicle crashes occurring annually in the state, Colorado’s roadways have become increasingly hazardous, particularly in high-density areas like Denver, Aurora, and Colorado Springs. In 2022, there were 681 traffic-related fatalities in Colorado, reflecting a concerning upward trend in deadly crashes, especially as urban areas see more congestion and higher traffic volumes.
The aftermath of a car crash can be overwhelming. Injured victims often find themselves struggling with medical treatments, lost wages, damage to their vehicles, and the emotional toll of trauma. For many, the road to recovery feels uncertain, especially when insurance companies offer quick settlements that fail to address the full extent of their injuries and losses.
A large proportion of accidents in Colorado are caused by preventable behaviors. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that driver error accounts for over 90% of all crashes nationwide, and in Colorado, certain behaviors remain major contributors to crashes, including:
- Distracted Driving
- Driving Under the Influence
- Excessive Speeding
- Aggressive Driving
Furthermore, incidents like hit-and-runs and high-speed chases are becoming more common, particularly in larger cities like Denver. Law enforcement is working diligently to curb auto theft and reckless driving, but innocent drivers often find themselves in the midst of dangerous and unpredictable situations.
