Commerce City, CO — Woman Hurt in Hit-and-Run Crash in Walmart Parking Lot

Commerce City, CO (May 16, 2025) — A hit-and-run incident occurred Thursday morning, May 15, in a Walmart parking lot, leaving a woman seriously injured.

According to Commerce City Police, the accident took place shortly after 10 a.m. at the Walmart located at 5990 Dahlia Street, close to the intersection of East 60th Avenue and U.S. 6.

The female victim was struck by a vehicle, which then fled the scene. She was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. By Thursday afternoon, authorities reported that a suspect had been apprehended in connection with the incident.

For the ongoing investigation, a portion of the parking lot near Walmart’s north entrance was temporarily closed.

We hope for the full recovery of the injured parties.

Colorado Pedestrian Crashes

Pedestrian accidents remain a serious concern throughout Denver, where busy streets, heavy foot traffic, and urban congestion create a challenging environment for safety. With thousands of pedestrians sharing the roads daily, the city has experienced a rising number of incidents involving people on foot. Last year alone, Denver reported numerous pedestrian collisions, many resulting in severe injuries or tragic fatalities.

The causes behind these accidents often stem from driver negligence, including distracted driving, speeding, impaired judgment due to alcohol or drugs, and failure to yield at crosswalks. Pedestrians are particularly vulnerable, and a single moment of driver inattention can cause life-altering harm to those simply trying to cross the street safely.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a pedestrian accident in Denver, the aftermath can be overwhelming. Physical pain, medical bills, lost wages, and emotional distress all add up quickly.
