Denver, CO (October 2, 2025) A motorcyclist died on Thursday morning, October 2, in a devastating crash on Interstate 70 near North Tennyson Street.

The collision happened around 1:24 a.m. on Thursday, October 2. Investigators say the rider was traveling along Interstate 70 when a violent crash threw him from his motorcycle and caused catastrophic injuries.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found the rider critically hurt in the roadway. First responders fought to save his life, but his injuries were too severe. He died at the scene despite their efforts.

Authorities closed all lanes of Interstate 70 between Sheridan Boulevard and Federal Boulevard for several hours while they examined the wreckage and collected evidence. The highway reopened around 3:48 a.m. after investigators cleared the scene.

The Denver Police Department is still working to learn what caused the deadly crash and to piece together the events leading up to it.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the victim during this heartbreaking time.

Fatal Motorcycle Accidents in Colorado

Motorcycle riders face life-threatening risks on Colorado’s highways, especially on busy corridors like I-70. Without the protection of a vehicle frame, they are fully exposed to the force of any impact, making a single crash catastrophic.

Deadly motorcycle collisions have risen steadily in recent years. The Colorado Department of Transportation reports that riders now make up a large share of traffic deaths each year. Several dangerous factors often lead to these tragic crashes:

  • Driver Inattention: Many drivers fail to see motorcycles when changing lanes or merging.
  • Speeding: High speeds reduce stopping distance and make collisions far more severe.
  • Impairment: Alcohol or drugs slow reflexes and impair judgment.
  • Weather Conditions: Wet pavement, debris, and sudden lane changes can cause riders to lose control.

When a motorcycle crash turns fatal, families face devastating grief and sudden financial burdens. Funeral expenses, medical bills, and lost income can quickly become overwhelming. While no amount of money can replace a loved one, a wrongful death claim may help families pursue justice and recover financial support.

A brave Denver wrongful death lawyer can investigate the crash, gather key evidence, and hold negligent drivers accountable. Attorneys can also deal directly with insurance companies and fight for compensation that covers funeral costs, lost wages, and the emotional toll of losing a loved one.
