Colorado Traffic Accidents
Car accidents are a daily reality in Denver, where congested roads, rapid development, and growing traffic volumes contribute to thousands of crashes each year. Across Colorado, more than 100,000 motor vehicle accidents are reported annually—and Denver consistently ranks among the state’s most crash-prone cities. In a recent year, over 600 people were killed on Colorado roads, while thousands more suffered life-altering injuries.
For those injured in a crash, the aftermath is often chaotic and overwhelming. Victims may be left with serious injuries, unexpected hospital stays, mounting medical expenses, and extended time away from work. In many cases, the emotional trauma lingers long after the physical wounds begin to heal.
Unfortunately, the majority of car accidents in Denver are the result of negligent or reckless driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that more than 9 out of 10 collisions are caused by driver error. In Denver, this frequently includes distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding, and aggressive behavior behind the wheel.
Weather also plays a major role in local crash patterns. Sudden snowstorms, icy roadways, and reduced visibility can turn Denver’s roads—especially major routes like I-25, Speer Boulevard, and Colorado Boulevard—into dangerous zones. In recent years, law enforcement agencies have also reported a growing number of accidents involving stolen vehicles and reckless driving during police pursuits.
