Colorado Car Accidents

Car accidents can happen for countless reasons, and in Colorado, they occur far more often than most people realize. The state experiences over 100,000 crashes each year, with densely populated areas like Denver, Aurora, and Colorado Springs seeing the highest numbers. In a recent year alone, more than 3,800 individuals sustained serious injuries, and over 600 people lost their lives in traffic accidents across the state.

For those involved, the consequences can be devastating. Car crash victims often face a cascade of challenges—medical bills, lost wages, vehicle repairs, and the emotional toll of painful injuries. These burdens can disrupt every aspect of life, making recovery difficult without help.

The majority of car accidents in Colorado are linked to driver negligence, which remains the leading cause of traffic collisions both statewide and nationwide. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), over 93% of crashes involve human error. In Colorado, common forms of negligence include distracted driving (especially due to smartphones), drunk or drug-impaired driving, speeding, and driving while fatigued.

Colorado’s unique geography and climate add another layer of risk. Mountain roads, unpredictable weather, and icy conditions during winter months make driving even more hazardous. Major highways like I-25 and I-70 see frequent accidents, particularly during heavy traffic or storms. Additionally, crashes involving stolen vehicles and high-speed pursuits have been increasing, creating further dangers for innocent drivers.
