Denver, CO — Two Seriously Injured in Crash at 11th Ave and Quebec St
Written by Bradley Smith
Denver, CO (April 16, 2025) – A serious traffic crash involving two motorists left both injured and shut down part of 11th Avenue Tuesday afternoon in east Denver.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:05 p.m. on April 15 at the intersection of 11th Avenue and Quebec Street. The Denver Police Department responded to the scene and confirmed that two people suffered serious injuries in the collision. Emergency medical teams provided on-site treatment before transporting both individuals to nearby hospitals for further care.
Due to the severity of the crash, authorities closed eastbound 11th Avenue at Poplar Street to allow for a full investigation and cleanup. Police advised motorists to use alternate routes as traffic delays continued throughout the afternoon. While details about the cause of the crash have not been fully released, investigators remained on scene for several hours. It is not yet known whether speed, distraction, or other contributing factors played a role.
We hope both injured individuals are able to recover quickly and fully.
Car Accidents in Colorado
Motor vehicle accidents in Colorado continue to occur at high rates, particularly in urban areas like Denver. The Colorado Department of Transportation reports tens of thousands of crashes each year, with many resulting in serious injuries. Intersection-related collisions are among the most common types, often leading to major disruptions and long-term health consequences for those involved.
Here are a few common challenges associated with intersection collisions:
- Confusing Traffic Flow and Signal Timing: Intersections can often be tricky to navigate, especially for unfamiliar drivers. Mistimed lights, unclear signage, or heavy traffic can lead to sudden stops or unpredictable turns. These conditions increase the risk of crashes significantly.
- Angle and Side-Impact Collisions: T-bone or angle crashes are particularly dangerous and common at intersections. When one vehicle hits the side of another, there is minimal structural protection for the struck driver or passenger, often leading to serious injury.
- Delayed Emergency Access: In congested city neighborhoods, emergency crews may face delays reaching crash sites. This can make timely treatment difficult, increasing the chance of complications for those with serious injuries.
- Post-Accident Complications: Even after victims are treated at a hospital, they may face long-term physical therapy, emotional distress, or difficulties returning to work. These challenges can create additional financial and emotional strain on families.
