Denver, CO - Pedestrian Hurt in Collision on 20th St near Lawrence St

Denver, CO (October 15, 2025)  A pedestrian crash left one person with serious injuries on Wednesday afternoon, October 15, in Denver. The crash occurred around 2:37 p.m. at the intersection of 40th Avenue and Central Park Boulevard.

Investigators said a driver struck the pedestrian while traveling through the busy intersection. The impact threw the victim onto the pavement, leaving them with catastrophic injuries.

Emergency crews arrived quickly. Paramedics treated the victim on the scene before transporting them to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

The driver involved stayed at the scene and spoke with officers. Police remained at the scene for several hours collecting debris, analyzing skid marks, and interviewing witnesses to understand what led to the collision. Investigators have not yet said whether speed, distraction, or impairment played a role. The investigation is ongoing.

We wish the injured pedestrian a full and swift recovery.

Pedestrian Accidents in Colorado

Pedestrian crashes are among the most devastating types of traffic collisions in Colorado. Victims have little to no protection when struck by a vehicle, and the resulting injuries are often life-threatening. In busy urban areas like Denver, where drivers and pedestrians frequently share space, a single moment of distraction can change a life forever.

Several common factors contribute to serious pedestrian accidents, including:

  • Driver Distraction: Looking at a phone or adjusting in-car controls often leads to missed signals or pedestrians.
  • Speeding: Higher speeds reduce reaction times and increase the severity of injuries.
  • Failure to Yield: Drivers who ignore crosswalks or signals put pedestrians directly in harm’s way.
  • Impairment: Alcohol and drug use continue to play a significant role in many of these crashes.

The consequences of a pedestrian collision extend far beyond the physical injuries. Victims often face extensive medical treatments, surgeries, and months of rehabilitation. Many cannot return to work for weeks or even months, creating overwhelming financial pressure. Families also bear the emotional burden of caring for a loved one who may never fully recover.

If you or someone you love suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident, you may have the right to pursue compensation. This may cover payment for medical bills, lost wages, long-term care, and the pain and suffering caused by the crash. A skilled Denver car accident lawyer can investigate the crash, gather key evidence, negotiate with insurance companies, and build a strong case for financial recovery.
