31-Year-Old Man Killed in Hit-and-Run at E Florida Ave & S Alton St

Arapahoe County, CO (September 26, 2025) – A 31-year-old man died on Wednesday night, September 24, after a deadly hit-and-run crash at an Arapahoe County intersection.

Colorado State Patrol (CSP) reported that the crash happened around 9:45 p.m. near East Florida Avenue and South Alton Street. Investigators said the vehicle struck the man while crossing the street. The impact threw the victim into the right lane, where a second vehicle hit and dragged him.

The first driver pulled over and stayed at the scene. However, the second driver did not stop and left the area. Authorities have not yet identified the hit-and-run vehicle and are asking witnesses to come forward. CSP encouraged anyone who may have struck debris in the intersection between 9:45 and 10:00 p.m. to contact them immediately.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. Officials have not released his identity as the investigation continues.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.

Hit-and-Run Accidents in Colorado

Hit-and-run accidents are some of the most devastating and frustrating incidents on Colorado roads. Families not only face the grief of losing a loved one, but they also struggle with the uncertainty of not knowing who was responsible. When drivers flee the scene, it delays justice and complicates the recovery process for victims and their families.

Victims of hit-and-run crashes—or their families in fatal cases—may face a wide range of challenges, including medical bills, funeral expenses, loss of income, and emotional trauma.

Filing a wrongful death claim can provide financial support and hold negligent drivers accountable. A pedestrian accident attorney can guide families through the legal process and pursue compensation on their behalf.

Common damages in wrongful death claims include:

  • Medical expenses – Emergency treatment, surgeries, and hospital bills prior to death.
  • Funeral and burial costs – Covering the immediate expenses for laying a loved one to rest.
  • Lost income and financial support – Compensation for wages and benefits the victim provided to dependents.
  • Pain and suffering – Addressing the physical and emotional harm victims and their families endure.
  • Loss of companionship – Recognizing the emotional void left by the death of a loved one.

In cases like this recent accident, legal support is critical. Police investigations may take time, but families can begin protecting their rights immediately. An experienced lawyer can work alongside investigators, gather evidence, and ensure victims’ families receive the justice they deserve.
