Colorado Car Accidents

Car accidents are a daily reality on Colorado’s roads, with more than 100,000 crashes reported each year across the state. Densely populated cities like Denver, Aurora, and Colorado Springs see the highest concentration of collisions, but serious accidents happen statewide—from busy urban intersections to winding mountain highways. In one recent year alone, over 3,800 people suffered serious injuries in traffic crashes, and more than 600 lives were lost.

For those affected, the aftermath can be overwhelming. Beyond the physical pain of injuries, victims often face steep medical expenses, lost income, vehicle damage, and emotional trauma. Navigating recovery is rarely simple—especially without support.

Human error continues to be the primary cause of car accidents in Colorado. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that more than 93% of crashes nationwide stem from driver mistakes. In Colorado, the most common forms of negligence include distracted driving—particularly texting or using a smartphone—impaired driving, speeding, and drowsy driving.

Colorado’s mountainous terrain and unpredictable weather also contribute to the risks. Snow, ice, and limited visibility during the winter months make driving more dangerous, especially on heavily traveled routes like I-70 and I-25. Accidents involving stolen vehicles and high-speed chases have also risen in recent years, endangering both drivers and pedestrians.
