Denver, CO — Two Hospitalized After Multi-Car Crash on N Federal Blvd
Written by Bradley Smith
Denver, CO (April 16, 2025) – Two people were hospitalized after a high-speed crash involving a stolen vehicle on Tuesday afternoon in central Denver.
The collision happened around 12:30 p.m. on April 15 near the intersection of North Federal Boulevard and 14th Avenue. According to the Denver Police Department, a driver in a stolen vehicle was heading southbound at high speed when they clipped two cars that were stopped in traffic. The impact caused the suspect’s vehicle to veer off course and slam into a utility pole.
The crash triggered a significant emergency response from both police and fire crews. According to the Denver Fire Department, one of the individuals involved was pinned inside a vehicle and had to be extricated. Images from the scene showed extensive damage, with debris scattered across the road and one vehicle ending up on the sidewalk.
Two people were transported to area hospitals. The driver of the stolen vehicle reportedly suffered serious injuries. One other person, who was in one of the struck vehicles, was also injured and taken in for treatment.
Southbound lanes of Federal Boulevard were closed for several hours while investigators documented the scene and worked to determine the full circumstances of the crash. Authorities have not said whether charges will be filed but confirmed that an investigation remains ongoing.
We hope both individuals recover quickly and fully from their injuries.
Auto Accidents in Colorado
Colorado experiences a high volume of car crashes each year, particularly in urban areas like Denver. In a recent year, over 600 traffic fatalities were recorded in the state, with thousands more suffering injuries. High-speed driving and stolen vehicle pursuits have contributed to a growing number of serious incidents on the roads.
Crashes like this often raise awareness about the following factors:
- Stolen Vehicles and Reckless Driving: Crashes involving stolen vehicles frequently result in serious outcomes. These drivers often disregard traffic signals, speed limits, and other motorists’ safety. The combination of reckless driving and pursuit situations puts everyone on the road at risk.
- High-Speed Collisions: Speed drastically increases the force of impact during a crash. Even a small mistake at high speeds can lead to major structural damage and life-threatening injuries. This is particularly true in crowded areas like intersections or during rush hour traffic.
- Extrications and Vehicle Entrapment: When a person is pinned inside a car, fire crews must act fast to safely extract them. These incidents often involve heavy rescue tools and require time and care, delaying the reopening of roads and sometimes leading to more severe medical outcomes.
- Injuries That Require Hospitalization: Victims in high-impact crashes may suffer broken bones, internal trauma, or head injuries. Transport to a hospital is crucial for immediate care. Recovery may involve surgery, rehabilitation, and extended time away from work or family routines.
