Denver, CO – Pedestrian Struck at E. Colfax Ave. and N. Emerson St.

Ken Caryl, CO (October 7, 2025)  A 17-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a driver ran a red light and struck her on Sunday night, October 5, in Jefferson County.

The crash happened around 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of West Bowles Avenue and South Holland Way. Investigators said the teenager was walking south through the crosswalk when a dark-colored Acura SUV sped through the red light and hit her.

The violent impact threw her to the pavement and left her with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics rushed her to a nearby hospital for emergency care. Authorities said the driver did not stop and continued east on West Bowles Avenue, leaving the teen critically hurt in the road.

The Colorado State Patrol believes the vehicle is a dark Acura SUV, possibly a 2007–2013 MDX or a 2013–2018 RDX. The SUV is expected to have front driver-side damage and a missing driver-side mirror. The Colorado State Patrol is leading the investigation and urges anyone with information about the vehicle or its driver to come forward.

Our hearts are with the teen and her family during this difficult time. We wish her a full and swift recovery.

Pedestrian Accidents in Colorado

Pedestrian crashes remain some of the most severe and heartbreaking incidents on Colorado roads. People walking have no protection against the force of a car, and one impact can cause catastrophic or fatal injuries.

Colorado has seen a steady rise in these tragedies, especially on busy suburban corridors like West Bowles Avenue. Speeding, distracted driving, and running red lights continue to put pedestrians at risk every day.

Hit-and-run crashes make these situations even worse. When a driver flees, it delays life-saving help for the victim and makes it harder for families to find justice. Every second counts after a serious impact, and immediate emergency care can be the difference between survival and death.

If you or someone you love was hit by a negligent driver, you may be entitled to compensation. This can cover your medical bills, lost income, long-term care needs, and emotional trauma. When a driver flees, insurance claims can become more complex, but you still have legal options to pursue compensation.

A skilled pedestrian accident lawyer can gather evidence, investigate the crash, and negotiate with insurance companies on your behalf.
