Denver, CO (June 23, 2025) — A fatal crash involving a pedestrian brought traffic to a standstill early Friday morning, June 20, on the westbound side of 6th Avenue near North Sheridan Boulevard.
Denver Police reported that a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle along the highway just northeast of Lakewood. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the driver involved remained on-site and is cooperating with the investigation.
The incident was first shared by police around 3:30 a.m. on X (formerly Twitter). As emergency responders worked the scene, traffic on westbound 6th Avenue was diverted onto Sheridan Boulevard, causing significant delays. Witnesses on social media described traffic at a complete stop for over an hour.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, all westbound lanes were reopened by approximately 7:30 a.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
