Written by Bradley Smith
Denver, CO (July 1, 2025) — A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries late Tuesday night, July 1, following a hit-and-run crash on southbound Interstate 25 at the westbound 6th Avenue interchange.
According to the Denver Police Department, the collision occurred around 11:20 p.m. and involved a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, leaving the injured motorcyclist behind.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided aid before transporting the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious bodily injuries. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim or additional details about their condition at this time.
As of late Tuesday night, southbound I-25 was reduced to one lane near the crash site, causing significant traffic delays. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes while investigators processed the scene.
Denver police are actively investigating the incident and searching for the driver involved. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the Denver Police Department.
We hope the wounded individuals make a swift recovery.
Colorado Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcycle accidents continue to pose a serious risk on Colorado’s roads, especially in high-traffic areas like Denver. As the city grows and streets become increasingly congested, riders face greater dangers than ever before. From downtown intersections to highways like I-25 and 6th Avenue, motorcycle collisions are an unfortunate and frequent reality in the Mile High City.
Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable road users. Unlike drivers in enclosed vehicles, riders have little protection in a crash, making the consequences of even a minor collision potentially catastrophic. In many cases, these accidents are caused by preventable errors, often on the part of other drivers.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), over 94% of crashes nationwide stem from human error. In Denver, common causes of motorcycle crashes include:
- Drivers failing to check blind spots before changing lanes
- Distracted or inattentive driving
- Speeding or aggressive maneuvers
- Impaired driving
- Failure to yield the right-of-way at intersections
The aftermath of a motorcycle crash can be overwhelming. In addition to serious physical injuries—such as fractures, road rash, or traumatic brain injuries—victims often face costly medical treatment, lost income, long recovery periods, and significant emotional stress.
