Aurora, CO – Young Boy Injured in Pedestrian Crash on 19th Ave near Clinton St
Written by Bradley Smith
Aurora, CO (August 11, 2025) – A 9-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near 19th Avenue and Clinton Street on Sunday, August 10, shortly before 12:30 p.m. The driver, operating a red SUV, fled the scene after the collision.
Security camera footage captured the impact, and the vehicle quickly left northbound on 19th Avenue toward Montview Boulevard. Evidence at the scene indicated the bike was dragged along the pavement before the SUV departed.
The boy was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is currently recovering from his injuries. Authorities are investigating the incident and seeking information on the suspect, described as a light-complexioned male with black hair and a beard.
We hope for the swift recovery of the injured individuals.
Colorado Pedestrian Accidents
As Colorado’s cities grow and traffic volumes rise, pedestrian safety has become an increasingly urgent concern. Every year, countless people are injured while walking—often in crashes that could have been prevented.
Across the state, more than 100,000 traffic collisions occur annually, with a significant portion involving pedestrians. These accidents can happen anywhere: at busy intersections, along major thoroughfares, or in areas not designed with pedestrian safety in mind. Injuries can range from broken bones and head trauma to long-term or life-altering conditions.
While each incident is unique, many pedestrian injuries share common contributing factors, including:
- Distracted driving, which can prevent drivers from noticing people crossing streets or stepping off curbs
- Excessive speed, reducing reaction time and increasing the severity of injuries
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, impairing judgment and control
- Failure to yield, particularly when turning at intersections or navigating crosswalks
- Limited visibility, especially at night or during rain, fog, or snow
Colorado’s changing weather—snow, ice, and wet roads—can make walking and driving more hazardous, contributing to pedestrian crashes in both urban and suburban areas.
Being injured as a pedestrian can be physically, emotionally, and financially overwhelming. Medical bills, lost wages, and the challenges of recovery often add to the trauma of the accident itself.
