Colorado Motorcycle Crashes

Denver’s streets have become increasingly dangerous for motorcyclists as traffic congestion grows and driver inattention rises. From bustling downtown intersections to winding suburban routes, motorcycle accidents are an all-too-common-and-often—often devastating reality across the metro area.

Each month, thousands of crashes are reported across Colorado, and motorcyclists face some of the most severe consequences. With far less protection than drivers of passenger vehicles, riders are particularly vulnerable to catastrophic injuries in the event of a collision. In many cases, it’s not road conditions or visibility that cause these wrecks—it’s human error.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 94% of traffic crashes nationwide are caused by some form of driver negligence. In Denver, this often means motorists who fail to yield, cut off riders in traffic, or drive distracted, impaired, or aggressively. For motorcyclists, a single careless moment by another driver can lead to broken bones, brain injuries, spinal trauma, or worse.
