Car Accidents in Colorado
Car accidents remain a major cause of fatality across Colorado. Busy intersections, like South Santa Fe Drive and West Evans Avenue in Denver, are common sites for serious collisions. When high speeds or reckless driving are involved, the results can be catastrophic.
Some of the most frequent causes of deadly crashes in Colorado include:
- Speeding: High speeds reduce reaction time and increases the force of impact.
- Distracted Driving: Phones, navigation systems, and other distractions take eyes off the road.
- Impaired Driving: Alcohol and drugs remain leading factors in fatal accidents.
- Failure to Yield: Many crashes occur when drivers ignore right-of-way rules at intersections.
- Aggressive Driving: Tailgating and unsafe lane changes lead to violent collisions.
For families, the aftermath of a fatal crash is overwhelming. Beyond the emotional toll, they may face funeral expenses, medical bills, and the sudden loss of financial support.
Colorado law allows surviving family members to pursue a wrongful death claim when negligence causes a fatal accident. These claims can provide compensation for medical costs, lost wages, and the pain and suffering that follows such a devastating loss.
