Colorado Car Accidents

Car accidents claim hundreds of lives each year in Colorado—and Denver consistently ranks among the state’s deadliest cities for traffic collisions. With busy urban roadways, high-speed interstates, and a rapidly growing population, fatal crashes in the Denver metro area are becoming an increasingly urgent issue.

In a recent year alone, over 600 people were killed in traffic accidents across Colorado, and many of those deaths occurred on Denver’s streets and highways. Intersections like Colfax and Federal, and heavily traveled corridors like I-25 and I-70, are frequent sites of deadly collisions involving cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even pedestrians.

Behind these tragic statistics are real families left grieving. A fatal crash doesn’t just take a life—it can shatter the lives of those left behind. Surviving loved ones often face overwhelming emotional loss, unexpected funeral expenses, lost financial support, and a desperate need for answers.

Most fatal crashes are preventable. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), over 90% of deadly collisions involve some form of human error. In Denver, common causes include distracted driving, speeding, impaired driving, and reckless behavior. In recent years, accidents involving stolen vehicles and street racing have also added to the danger, especially during nighttime hours.

Winter weather, icy roads, and the city’s unique geography can further amplify the risk—turning a simple mistake into a fatal outcome in seconds.
