Colorado Car Crashes
Car accidents causing serious injuries are a growing concern throughout Colorado, as increasing traffic congestion and expanding urban areas have made driving and riding more hazardous. Every year, thousands of Coloradans suffer debilitating injuries from motor vehicle collisions, with many crashes occurring in busy metropolitan regions like Denver, Aurora, and Colorado Springs. In recent years, over 3,800 people have experienced severe injuries on Colorado’s roads, a significant portion resulting from car accidents.
The aftermath of a car accident extends far beyond physical wounds. Injured victims often face long-term disabilities, emotional distress, and overwhelming financial strain due to medical bills, lost wages, and ongoing rehabilitation. In just a split second, a driver’s lack of caution or reckless behavior can alter lives forever.
Most injury-causing car crashes in Colorado stem from driver negligence. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that human error plays a role in more than 90% of all traffic accidents. Common factors in Colorado include distracted driving—often linked to cellphone use—excessive speed, impaired or drowsy driving, and failure to obey traffic signals.
Colorado’s weather and geography add further challenges. Slippery roads from ice and snow, reduced visibility during winter storms, and narrow mountain highways increase the risk of crashes. High-traffic corridors such as I-25, I-70, and US-36 frequently see serious collisions due to heavy vehicle volumes and complex driving conditions.
